    Michael Bay TMNT

    Post by Mikko on Sat Mar 23, 2013 4:52 am

    We're still reeling over news that Megan Fox will reteam with Michael Bay on his upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' remake, especially considering all the harsh words she had for him following the Transformers movies. But whether we (and legions of other TMNT fans) like it or not, casting for the reboot is moving forward. And it's turtle time.

    Deadline reports that having secured Fox as their "female lead" (April O'Neil or no?), producer Bay and the movie's helmer Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans) have snagged Alan Ritchson to play the sai-wielding Raphael. You might be wondering what that means in the context of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' movie. Will he be a full-bodied puppeteer? Will he lend his voice? It's sort of both.

    Bay and Liebesman's version will be a hybrid of live-action and CGI with the turtles' performances being created from motion-capture technology similar to that used in the making of Avatar. So, for Ritchson, this means he'll be donning a motion-capture suit rather than a cumbersome mutant turtle costume.

    Meh. You know, I was actually sorta looking forward to this movie. I still am. It's been so long since there's been an actual turtle film that the TMNT deserve another shot. Bay and Liebesman aren't exactly what I had in mind but it's what we have, unfortunately. I wouldn't mind motion capture but to capture the essence of the TMNT I would have loved to see actual costumes.

    You can't capture that core essence with CGI as proven by that crappy 2007 movie. I'd love to actually see someone in a turtle costume doing flips and martial arts, like the older movies. It worked fine. CGI tho is taking over and has become a powerful force in movie-making much to the chagrin of fans. Oh well. I've seen Ritchson on Smallville and tho his Aquaman wasn't great, here's to hoping his Raph is better.

    I'm not a huge fan of their ideas, so far, but I don't hope it fails. I want a good TMNT movie and just b/c it's Bay doesn't necessarily mean I want to hate it; just means I can't help but wriggle my nose at the idea. He's not done so good with Transformers and that trilogy, soon to be quadrilogy, left a bad taste in a lot of mouths, especially with actual fans. So I just hope they know what they're doing and at least try to stay focused on SOME of the source material...

    We still don’t know what to expect from the upcoming film, which boasts a female lead in Megan Fox, a producer in Michael Bay and a director in Jonathan Liebesman. Early buzz on the project had fans angry (mainly due to rumors that the turtles were going to aliens and not mutants), but the project was shut down and extensively retooled last year after the internet buzz grew too toxic. The fact that the title is back to ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ and no longer ‘Ninja Turtles’ is proof that at least a few things changed.

    We’ll have to wait until June 6, 2014 to see if the film will please this very vocal fanbase…and if Alan Ritchson’s performance will add anything to the film or just be piece of the special effects.

    O.o Lexi... um...I mean Megan is gonna be a part of the turtle-virse? Am I psychic or what! Razz I knew she was a TMNT fan, but didn't see this coming, mainly because of the feud between her and Bay.

    I know a lot of people dislike Bay and what he's done, but I have to say I liked his take on the Transformers, and this is coming from a fan. My only beef with him was the fact that he wanted to make the turtles aliens...wtf. Guess he doesn't know what the 'mutant' in the title means. But.. either way, I'll give it a chance and hope for the best...

    Totally agree, would prefer the costumes over CGI.....

    Meh. It's not that I dislike Bay or anything but his recent films have been quite shit. I didn't like any of the Transformers. I just liked certain parts of the first one but the designs sucked, especially Starscream, focusing on the humans was stupid and casting those 2 in lead roles was def bad for business.

    I hope he avoids this with TMNT. I know he's not directing but it sounds like he has a big hand in this movie so I have my fingers crossed. I don't need an hour and a half of Fox and whatever loser they get to play Casey wrong and only 15 minutes of the turtles. He's not who I'd want involved but it's what we have sadly.

    And we have this;

    Following Friday's announcement that saw Alan Ritchson signing on to play Raphael in the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Deadline has now revealed the names of the other actors set to join the crime-fighting quartet. Jeremy Howard (Galaxy Quest) will star as Donatello, Pete Ploszek ("Parks and Recreation") will play Leonardo and Noel Fisher ("Shameless," The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2) will play Michelangelo.

    The turtles will be brought to the screen using motion capture technology. The stars join the previously-announced Megan Fox in the role of April O'Neil.

    Here is a link to some on the set pic's, Megan Fox doesn't actually look to bad as April here. I also like the tech and costumes on the turtles lol I can't wait to see how they are actually gonna look in the movie. It would be so awesome to have close to real life looking turtles heh

    They don't look too bad. shredder looks bad ass. but I heard that shredder wasn't going to be a Japanese man and that there was no Foot. But that could be false and still no mention of Splinter.

    There is already word of a second tmnt movie after this one that Casey will be in. But we shall see. I just hope that this movie isn't a total wreck

    Against what everyone presumed, Danny Woodburn and the actor playing Leo are NOT doing their voices. Get ready for this one, folks... The voices are being done by Johnny Knoxville (Leo) and Tony Shalhoub (Splinter). Had a pic but it wouldn't fit on here. So here's a link;

    Yeah, read that about a week ago maybe. I agree on some things, but all this coming from the guy whose big decision in Mirage was to make April a pen doodle.

    I don't really listen to him or Eastman much honestly, lol

    The designs are weird tho. It makes you wonder if they do this just to be 'different' and maybe 'creative' to stretch that term or if it'll serve a purpose in the film to have them look that way.
